Kissing Games (Kissing Creek Book 2) by Stefanie London

Thank you to Grey’s Promo and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

I read an ARC of this book a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, its both hilarious and adorable. This is the second book I have read by London, and the second book I have given 4/5 stars without hesitation. You have a librarian who is getting everyone in this little town hot and bothered because of a spicy book, a professional baseball player who is reevaluating his entire life, and a small town that is up in everyone’s business.

London does a great job of wrapping life lessons up in a neat little bow of romantic comedy. The other book I read by her did the same thing – while I originally picked it up for the fake dating trope, I stayed for the character growth. And that is the same here. Sloane just wants to find a home, a place to belong after having so much instability. Ryan knew nothing but safety and is now having an identity crisis after basing his life and career path on something unstable, something out of his control, which is his body. Sloane’s adorable outfits and sharp wit are appealing as a female lead character, and Ryan has so much growth that I – in the end – find him worthy of her.

While this is slated as Book Two in the Kissing Creek Series, it is very much a stand-alone. I am sure I would have gotten a lot more out of some of the characters, as I can see how some of their backstories would have been more fleshed out, but it was not necessary for me to enjoy this book. I will be going to find Book 1 at some point, and I will continue to try and read through London’s backlog – when I have a chance.
