Thank you to NetGalley and Llewellyn Publications for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
I have always been drawn to crystals and the magic of nature, having accumulated a mass of knowledge about rocks & minerals throughout the years, as well as a physical quantity of them. When the opportunity to read an advanced copy of a book about crystal magic I definitely jumped at the opportunity. This book is broken down into lovely sections about different types of magic that can be done with different crystals, as well as information about crystal grids and how to make crystal potions. There are also warnings about which crystals are toxic to be ingested, or harmful if they are close to the skin for too long, as well as information about the fragility of different stones. I also appreciated the information on identifying the difference between natural and man-made stones, but not promoting one as better than the other.
The one thing that gave me a bit of a hard time was it felt a little religious at times/leaned a little far into the self-help/motivational speech realm. I understand where it is coming from, and it is not a negative necessarily, but it is personally not an aspect I enjoy with my crystal knowledge spell books.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I think this is a book I will keep going back to as a reference for some of my crystal knowledge & spells. I think it is a great starter book for those who don’t know anything about crystals or crystal magic, and I would definitely recommend it even to seasoned crystal users as a reference book. 4.5/5
